Today we're happy to introduce you to Sheila Gerke from Plum Doodles. You may recognize her as a member of the Atlanta Home/DIY Bloggers that visited our store for their March meetup.
WM: You've created an ingenious product. Tell us about it.
Sheila: Doodle Magic is an all natural solvent that transfers laser (toner-based) images onto wood or fabric. If you can print it, you can transfer it, super-easy. Many people use Doodle Magic to transfer images of old family recipes, love letters, postcards, etc to furniture for a durable memento.
WM: How did you come up with your fun name?
Sheila: The name Plum Doodles came from my love of all things purple, and the randomness of my projects. I like to doodle around with all sorts of things. :)
WM: What are your favorite items to embellish with your great medium?
Sheila: I love to take apart furniture and use the pieces for new things. For example, using the top from a coffee table as a “canvas” for artwork. I print out the image (reversed) on a laser printer (or copier), and transfer to the painted tabletop using Doodle Magic. My favorites are French phrases and signs.
WM: What do you feel your readers enjoy most about your popular blog?
Sheila: I write about my goof-ups as much as my successes. It makes people laugh, and helps them to get over the fear of failure and just give it a try. It also helps them avoid the same mistakes. If I didn’t include those disasters, I wouldn’t have much to write about! :)
